Palmer Luckey Joins Nordic VR Startups as a Mentor

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

Nordic VR Startups has been running less than a half year, and we’ve been working hard and we’ve made significant strides forward with all of our teams and our wonderful mentors. We’re grateful for all the support we’ve received during these months and the tremendous amount of interest that our program has created among startups, entrepreneurs, investors and the whole Nordic VR/AR community. There’s a big demand for what we’re trying to achieve in the ecosystem and that is great news for our initiative.

Our mentor list has been top notch from the start, but we’ve also had the pleasure of adding new names along the way. Our latest addition to our mentor team is a true VR legend: Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus VR and the designer of the Oculus Rift. He is an active participant in the virtual reality community and can offer significant expertise to our local VR scene. Palmer is also a mentoring at our sister accelerators in Seoul and Tokyo, and I know we are all looking forward to this co-operation!

And this is not all we’ve got from Oculus. Or from Raw Fury to be precise – Callum Underwood recently joined the indie publisher as Chief of Very Important Things and NVS as a mentor! He has a lot of experience in working with multiple VR developers, and that is the exact knowledge we need for our portfolio teams. Also a big welcome to Josh Naylor from Unity who’ll join us as a mentor giving valuable insights into the Unity ecosystem that so many of our teams use.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have more than 30 wonderful mentors to help our teams and the whole community succeed. We are always looking for VR and AR industry veterans to help us on our mission to grow and improve the Nordic developer scene, and our start with the first batch has been looking good. Like our mentor Peter Vesterbacka likes to say, it’s “a good start!”.
